Stubbies

Received my Hele Box and stubbies a few days ago and have it setup in my Kia Sportage just waiting to make that roadtrip!!!

I'm glad I added these items to my order to have more options in the bed set-up. These allowed me to adjust the height of the bed to allow a little more head room and still have storage under the bed. They are as easy to adjust as the original legs that come with the bed.

I ordered the stubbies just in case I wanted to go lower depending on the vehicle I’m in. Having a 1/2 inch adjustment option is awesome!

I have a 2013 Toyota Venza wagon and the Hele single is perfect for what I’m doing . I need to store things under my bed and the regular legs at the lowest setting work well enough. The stubbies will be ideal if I want to go lower and I am very close to the ceiling. I have to try this set up out as is and see if I can get used to the limited ceiling height. If not, it’s all stubbies all the time!

The bed design is BRILLIANT and works great in my 2012 Honda CRV. But using the regular legs in a little vehicle like the Honda CRV would not work: the ceiling would be so close it would feel like sleeping in a coffin. The stubbies work well. I was able to mount the long legs BETWEEN the folded-forward back seats and the seat bases (rather than in front of the folded-forward back seats) to make enough room (with the shortened version of the bed) for a passenger to be comfortable in the passenger seat. A full-length bed in a CRV means the passenger seat has to be all the way forward, so it won't work if you want to leave your bed in place while carrying a passenger. But the hack where you shorten the (solo) bed by 6" worked great in my CRV. When I'm ready to sleep I can move the seat forward and pop on the 6" extensions when I want a full-length bed (once I've ditched my passenger).
