What if I told you that purchasing a Hele Box car camping platform and storage system would help you catch more fish?
Alright - that might sound like a bit of a stretch, but hear me out…
If you like to fish, car camping and overlanding is the perfect hobby to pair it with.
Whether you are fishing by fly, spinner, or dunking - car camping will help you catch more of what you are going for.
In this article, we’ll tell you three reasons why fisherman should try car camping:
1: Less people = more fish
This one is a given.
If your vehicle is equipped for light/moderate offroading, you’ll be able to reach fishing spots that are further away from heavily fished waters.
The further you go, the less pressured the fish. The tradeoff is that you are spending more time behind the windshield, and this will reduce the amount of time you’ll have on the water.
That’s where car camping comes into play!
Camping in your vehicle at the perfect fishing spot will allow you to maximize the amount of time you can spend on the water (or hooked up to fish!)
2: Organization means more time on the water
Once you get to your fishing spot/campsite, the first thing you’ll want to do is fish!
Organizing your vehicle with the right sleeping platform will ensure you show up with a bed/tent that’s already made so you can get right down to business.
At Hele Outdoors, we make a lightweight vehicle sleeping platform and storage system that fits in most SUVs/Trucks/Vans.
The carrying case doubles as compartmentalized storage, and slides right under the platform.
The modularity of our car camping platform makes it perfect to pack away your tackle boxes, waders, and other gear.
My Hele Box has taken me on so many epic trips, it’s become a superstition that I won’t have a successful fishing trip without it - if you fish, you know what I’m talking about…
3: Early bird gets the worm (fish!)
This one is my favorite.
Nothing beats rolling off your vehicle's sleeping platform and into a premier fishing spot with no one else around.
No traffic. No early morning alarm. No BS.
Just wake up, make your cup of coffee while the sun rises, and start gearing up for the day ahead.
As you gear up, take some time to sit back and watch the ecosystem around you do the same.
Birds start to chirp, squirrels/woodland creatures start hopping about, and if you are lucky enough, larger animals like deer will stroll on by looking for a place to graze for the day.
If this doesn’t make you fall in love/appreciate the great outdoors, nothing else will!
