The sleeping platform surface is 72” x 40” and accommodates sleeping pads up to 78” x 44” wide.

Storage System
Storage space is worth its weight in gold when sleeping in your vehicle.
The Hele Box's carrying case doubles a compartmentalized storage container, fits snug under the sleeping platform, and slides out for easy access to your gear/goodies when car camping. It comes with three compartment dividers that you can remove or adjust to your needs!
The wooden topper provides additional under/over storage. You can easily unlatch and slide it forward to access gear that's stored under the sleeping platform - or load gear on top of the sleeping platform and secure it down using the rails as latch points.
The width of the Hele Box Duo allows you to fit 2 storage bags underneath the sleeping platform. Add on a separate storage bag before check out so you can roll out with a matching set.

The Hele Box's sleeping platform is light enough to easily remove, swing around, and use as a gathering area to share old stories and create new memories. You can run it out the back of your tailgate with the set of already included extended legs OR add a separate set of extended legs to your cart before checkout so it can stand independently on its own.

FAQ
How does it make a 6ft sleeping platform when my trunk/cargo space is less than that?
If you are using the Hele Box in an SUV, a set of longer adjustable legs are attached to the front of the frame. These legs sit in the footwell of the rear seating and level out the frame with the other 4 shorter legs in the rear of the frame.
What if my cargo space has different heights or isn't completely flat? How will the sleeping platform be flat?
No problem! All 6 legs are independently adjustable allowing you to dial in a flat sleeping platform even if your cargo area isn't. The Hele Box car camping system can straddle over obstacles, seats, and level out even the steepest of slopes. If the vehicle isn't listed on your fitment list, does that mean it won't fit?
No! We've tested the Hele Box in more than 50 makes/models/generations of vehicles, but there are SO MANY MORE out there we've yet to test. The Hele Box car camping platform will fit in almost any SUV/truck/van that has 72" of length for the full length of the frame or 66" for the system in "shortie" mode. Does it come with the components needed for a flat space (like a truck bed/van) or do you need an extra set of short legs?
Every Hele Box comes ready to be set up on a flat space/ground (all 6 short legs) or an SUV (4 short legs and 2 long legs for the foot wells). You don't need to buy anything extra :)

I've been searching for a practical bed option that I could use in both my Prius and my RAM ProMaster City as well as light enough to carry through the airport when I fly and rent a SUV at my destination. I regularly drive to OR and NV to work on vacant land and was looking to fly instead of making those long drives. I previously bought a modular camper box (solo bed) but that bed is 40lbs so not practical to bring on flights and wouldn't fit in most rented SUV. That camper bed only fit in my van. Hoping for a better solution, I kept searching and was delighted to find the Hele Box. This elegant bed solution checked all my requirements. I like that each leg is easily adjustable so I can level my bed instead of needing to level my vehicle, which is ideal for me because I usually arrive late and in low light. The Hele Box fit great in both my Prius and my RAM ProMaster City and I'm looking forward to flying with my Hele Box =o). Thank you so much for a creative product and I wish you great success.
I’ve tried other brands before and ended up returning them — losing a fair amount in shipping and restocking fees. Nothing else I’ve seen matches the Hele Box in design, engineering, and quality of materials. The frame is impressively light yet solid, and it adjusts easily to fit a variety of installation configurations.
I own one of the few 2007 4Runners with third-row seats (removed), which means my back seats don’t come out easily. They fold forward, but the bench portion can’t be separated from the back — removing them is difficult and not desirable. The Hele Box is the only system I’ve found that adapts perfectly to this setup.
Installation and removal are quick and straightforward, and the included case keeps everything neatly organized. The wooden slats are simple to add or remove, and the whole setup stores compactly when not in use. I’ll be putting it to the test soon on an upcoming Appalachian Trail maintenance trip — but based on the build quality and fit, I’m confident it’s going to perform flawlessly.
One minor note: the slats can rattle a bit on bumpy roads if there’s no pad or gear on them, but that should disappear once you have added a pad and gear on top of them for a trip.
My go to Ford Escape for camping on canoe trips since 2008 finally was retired to the junk yard. I had built a sleeping platform and storage that served me well. I needed something for my new vehicle a 2025 Honda CRV. No longer having the tools and energy to build a new system I purchased the Hele platform and am very pleased with the fit, flexibility and ease of installation. The unit fits perfectly. It is much easier to install, remove and store after a trip. It is significantly lighter in weight. The quality cannot be higher. I can leave the right rear passenger seat in its normal position. There is ample room for my camping equipment in the space behind the seat. Canoe or kayak paddles fit under the platform. At 70 plus years old I can continue my paddling adventures.
