Storage System
Storage space is worth it's weight in gold when sleeping in your vehicle.
The Hele Box's carrying case doubles a compartmentalized storage container, fits snug under the sleeping platform, and slides out for easy access to your gear/goodies when camping. It comes with compartment dividers that you can remove or adjust to your needs!
The topper provides additional under/over storage. You can easily unlatch and slide it forward to access gear that's stored under your sleeping platform - or load gear on top of the platform and secure it down using the rails as latch points.

Tired of lugging around that rusty old table? So were we! The Hele Box's sleeping platform is light enough for one person to easily remove, swing around, and use as a gathering area to share old stories and create new memories. You can choose the length of your table by removing one or none of the supports and run it out the back of your tailgate or independently on its own legs.

FAQ
How does it make a 6ft sleeping platform when my trunk/cargo space is less than that?
If you are using the Hele Box in an SUV, a set of longer adjustable legs are attached to the front of the frame. These legs sit in the footwell of the rear seating and level out the frame with the other 4 shorter legs in the rear of the frame.
What if my cargo space has different heights or isn't completely flat? How will the sleeping platform be flat?
No problem! All 6 legs are independently adjustable allowing you to dial in a flat sleeping platform even if your cargo area isn't. The Hele Box car camping system can straddle over obstacles, seats, and level out even the steepest of slopes. Check our vehicle fitment guide or send us a message and we'd be happy to confirm with you!
If the vehicle isn't listed on your fitment list, does that mean it won't fit?
No! We've tested the Hele Box in more than 50 makes/models/generations of vehicles, but there are SO MANY MORE out there we've yet to test. The Hele Box car camping platform will fit in almost any SUV/truck/van that has 72" of length for the full length of the frame or 66" for the system in "shortie" mode. Does it come with the components needed for a flat space (like a truck bed/van) or do you need an extra set of short legs?
Every Hele Box comes ready to be set up on a flat space/ground (all 6 short legs) or an SUV (4 short legs and 2 long legs for the foot wells). You don't need to buy anything extra :)
Is the packaging/storage system different if I order the pad or not?
Nope! Its the same storage system/packaging.
Do you recommend your pad or my own?
We designed our pad around our sleeping platform pad with an emphasis on comfortability without sacrificing headroom. It's the best fit for the Hele Box!

Headroom looks a little tight, how can I get more space?
We built the Hele Box with a focus on balance between headroom and storage space. If you are looking to prioritize more headroom on your car camping platform, add on a set of stubbies!!
I had a homemade folding plywood sleeping platform in my Honda Odyssey for several years. It was comfortable but impossible for me (a 67 year old woman) to set up on my own. When I recently purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna, it was time to upgrade. I can easily set up the 24” Hele Box on my own and with the shortening kit I can even fit it from side to side in front of the sliding second row seats. That gives me a huge amount of space behind the seats for my kitchen, fridge and other gear. The leg adjustability makes for a perfectly level platform and plenty of headroom. I plan on purchasing a second 24” for traveling with a companion as there’s just enough room to place 2 full length platforms side by side in the Sienna behind the second row seats. The small space required for storage is a bonus. Great product!

Hello, I just tried my Helebox duo out in the field for 3 days and wanted to share my (awesome) experience:
I got virtually no sleep last year when I overnight car-camped and it was likely a combination of the cheap gear I was using, the lump in my Rav4 for the backseats, and not being parked on a level surface. It discouraged me from wanting me to camp again.
I’ve wanted a car platform for years and felt hopeful that it could make car-camping a more enjoyable experience. I was very excited when I discovered Hele Outdoors. When I felt confident the Helebox would work well in my Rav4 based on the assembly and fit videos, I decided to make the purchase.
I had such a better experience because camping because I upgraded my sleep system. Using the Helebox paired with the Exped Megamat I was literally getting a full-night sleep all three nights I was out there. I was so comfortable I looked forward to getting cozy in the car after a long day of hiking and campfires.
The way I felt coming home from my trip last year to this year is a night and day difference. Really glad I invested in a good sleep system as it’s rejuvenated my excitement to go out camping again! Looking forward to many more adventures with the Helebox in my rig!
Haven't camped with it yet, but I did set it up to test it and it works well in my 2015 Honda Fit. The seats are set up in "long mode" with the back seats flat and the front passenger seat reclined all the way back.
The front legs are on the front passenger seat and center console. So with my head near the steering wheel and my feet in the trunk area I have the entire length of the car to stretch out in.
I've camped in my Fit before with a couple different DIY bed frames, comfortable enough, but all of my attempts were cumbersome/bulky. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'll try to take more pictures once I get out camping.
Wow Murray! Easier to assemble than expected (maybe because I watched your videos so many times)! Shortening kit vid was helpful too, along with my stubbies to allow excellent fit/headroom in my 2022 CRV Hybrid! At 59, I put it together in 15 minutes...super easy! Also, when not in bed mode, I use it as a shelf in the back + store many things under it in that awesome case provided! This has so many configurations and options, it was a no-brainer after comparing with all the major competitors!!! Stay innovative with the add-ons, because the competition are not as creative.
