- Food and Water: Always first on the list! Make sure to pack enough pet food and water for the entire trip, plus a little extra in case you run into unexpected delays or issues. A portable food and water bowl is a nice to have if you plan on taking hikes.

- Health & Safety: Is your pet up-to-date on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention? This is especially important if you’ll be in areas with wildlife or dense vegetation. Make sure your pet has identification - an ID tag with your contact information and consider a collar with a GPS tracker if your pet likes to wander.

2. Choose Pet-Friendly Campsites

If you are headed to a campground, make sure to check beforehand if there are particular pet policies/restrictions that need to be adhered to.

- Idea Campground Features: Lookout for campgrounds that have pet-friendly amenities like dog parks, pet waste stations, and areas where pets can safely roam. Avoid sites near busy roads or other hazards that could pose a risk to your pet.

3. Be Responsible

-Leash and Control: If you are around other campers make sure to be respectful and practice leash/control.

-Respect Wildlife: Your pet might be excited by the sights, smells, and sounds of nature, but it’s important to respect the local wildlife. Be sure to clean up after your pet by disposing of waste properly in designated areas or packing it out.
