Favorite Car Camping Snacks

Nothing beats enjoying a scenic view of the great outdoors, other than a scenic view of the outdoors with a delicious snack in hand!

We’re going to take a break from our usual content focused on car camping platforms and storage systems to bring you our list of favorite snacks to bring with us when we hit the road.

1 - Vafels

vafel for eating

This healthy alternative to the boring/generic power bar is disguised as a delicious Belgian or stroop waffle.

We have 3 or more stroop waffles in our vehicles at any given time. They can handle the heat, cold, and are the perfect fix to hold you over until your next meal.

Feel road rage coming on? Open up a Vafel and immediately watch yourself start to cool off.

Their Belgian waffles make the perfect post-dinner desert or easy breakfast on the move.

They were designed by a Colorado based athlete who was tired of the fake ingredients and poor performance of big protein bar brands.

The Vafel is the perfect snack to conquer your cravings or fuel you up for an epic hike/ride/fish.

Oh, did we mention they are vegan? It’s easy to forget because these bad boys don’t compromise in flavor.

You can find them straight from the source here or on The Feed - check out those reviews!

Our favorite flavor is maple :)

2 - Banana Chips

banana chips

Bet you didn’t see this one coming!

Banana chips have all the benefits of a banana, without the risk of getting bruised or beaten up on the way to (or through) the trailhead.

Their crunchy texture and thin slices make it a great companion to have on longer road trips when you feel your eyes start to get heavy.

We keep these on deck whenever our trip is going to have 4+ hours of windshield time.

You can get them at just about any grocery store, but our favorite bag comes from Trader Joes!

3 - Popcorn

lesser evil popcorn

The mess popcorn makes in the cabin of your vehicle can be easily overlooked by the benefits of the caloric intake.

We love to bring popcorn with us to munch on during board/card games or during movie time (if we have wifi or one downloaded)

Popcorn is awesome because it gives you the salty/savory fix of a chip for a smidge of the calories.

Our favorite popcorn is by  Lesser Evil - the Oh My Gee flavor is off the charts, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them.

You can find this brand at most grocery stores across the country.

4 - PB & J

Wait, does this one really count as a snack? It does now!

PB&J’s are like the Boston Whalers (unsinkable boats) of outdoor camping.

You can put them through an absolute beating in a backpack, cooler, or jacket pocket and it only makes them taste better.

They are the perfect “emergency meal” when you need a little extra fuel to get you through the day.

5 - Zevia

zevia drink

We love beer - though sometimes it’s not an option. Hard to believe, I know.

If you are tired of the popular fizzy water drinks like Bubbly and La Croix - you need to try a Zevia

They are sweetened with stevia, though you would hardly notice.

Our favorite flavors are Creamy Rootbeer & Ginger Ale

That does it for our list of favorite car camping snacks.

Now that you’ve got your snacks, let’s keep them organized and secured! The Hele Box is a vehicle sleeping platform that fits in most SUVs and trucks.

The sleeping platform is adjustable is height so you can dial in a nice and level sleeping area and strike the perfect balance between headspace and storage.

Speaking of storage, the carrying case doubles as compartmentalized storage and slides right underneath the sleeping platform.

Load it up with snacks and hit the road!

You can learn more about the Hele Box car camping platform here.

Happy snacking!
